If SALPN issued your eligibility confirmation and you want to complete the SPE program, please complete the following steps:
- Complete the SPE Applicant Form
- Email the completed form to registration@salpn.com.
Each participant SALPN approves for the SPE must begin their experience within six (6) months of their approval date.
Eligible SPE participants must arrange their own clinical placement with a SALPN-approved host organization. Clinical placements can be in hospitals or long-term care facilities within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) or other non-SHA organizations providing nursing services. If they already have employment in health care, but in a non-nursing role, their existing employer may be an excellent place to start.
Participants can use this letter to help them find an organization to host an SPE.
Once the participant's clinical placement is arranged, the host organization will also submit an application for SALPN to review and approve.
If the participant or the host organization believes additional SPE clinical hours are beneficial near the end of their placement, they can request an extension of another 160 hours. The SALPN must pre-approve all extension requests, as they are not guaranteed. To request an extension, complete the SPE Extension Request Form.
After participants have completed their practice experience, they must complete a self-evaluation form.
